As an educator we know students face so many challenges, but this cannot be allowed to hold them back.  An Achievable Dream’s SAME framework has provided the structure and the skills kids needs to grow into the best version of themselves

Jonothan Lister

Math Lead, An Achievable Dream Middle and High School

As educators and administrators, we face many demands and challenges, but our primary goal is to educate and equip children. An Achievable Dream’s SAME framework does an exceptional job of instilling in students not only the motivation and confidence to dream big, but the hard and soft skills they need to achieve those dreams. We are proud partners of An Achievable Dream and believe in the value of this program.

When I saw this program firsthand, I was in awe. We all know that the challenges of public education – especially for socioeconomically disadvantaged students – are complex, but An Achievable Dream, through their SAME framework, has developed a proven model for success. I have always said that EVERY school should implement this model. Now every school has the opportunity to do just that through the Achieve SAME Pro tools. I believe wholeheartedly in this program and encourage educators and administrators to learn more and take advantage of this unique program that will help you serve your students even better.

I have personally seen programs come and go for forty-four years. However, An Achievable Dream’s proven record of improving the educational achievements of socioeconomically and disadvantaged students is unmatched.  I would encourage administrators, educators, and community leaders to examine the use of Achieve SAME Pro. It is a game-changer that will equip educators to achieve dramatic improvement in their students’ success.

Six years ago I was teaching in another city and I was looking to make a change. I saw a lot of openings at Seatack Elementary An Achievable Dream Academy and became very curious what this academy was all about.  I did some research and instantly knew that this was a program that I wanted to be a part of for the rest of my career. The SAME framework that we instill in our children doesn’t put the focus simply on a test at the end of the year, but it focuses on the holistic child. For many of our families, college was never an option before the Achievable Dream Academy came into their lives.  I have personally seen changes in students’ confidence, which transferred to academics, and it’s largely due to the extra time we have with our kids, or having them go in front of the entire school to recite our banners (daily positive affirmations). This is the first school I have ever taught where all the teachers legitimately look at every student as their own student.  I am looking forward to finishing the last 20 years of my career with An Achievable Dream Academy.

4th grade teacher, Seatack Elementary An Achievable Dream Academy, Virginia Beach City Public Schools

As an educator, I have seen how the SAME framework of An Achievable Dream has a powerful, foundational force on my students. It allows students to dig deeper into who they are as a person, building confidence as they become self-aware and begin to see their value and self-worth. As students explore who they are as individuals, they begin to see things in themselves that they didn’t know existed. Thus, they dream! They dream of better things for themselves and for their families. They acquire hope and love and belief within themselves and they begin to SOAR!  The care that the students develop for themselves and their classmates is profound and I am so very lucky to be the Head Dreamer in my class. I am happy to watch them grow and develop socially and academically and prepare them for the things that they start to dream for themselves.

I have been associated with An Achievable Dream for the past two years and I am encouraged by the way the program at [our school] continues to grow and change to fit the needs of each individual student.  It is a pleasure to work with the faculty and staff that represent An Achievable Dream on a daily basis. It is apparent that the social/emotional partnerships that form help to solidify the important work that An Achievable Dream is working to accomplish.

Being part of the social education part of An Achievable Dream, specifically Speaking Green, from the beginning has successfully highlighted for the students that being able to adapt their speaking patterns and grammar (code switching) appropriately from formal to informal situations is important. Moreover, I think Speaking Green class has given them the awareness, the tools, and the skillset to manage this part of social conduct with confidence.

PALS Teacher and Speaking Green Teacher, Seatack Elementary An Achievable Dream Academy, Virginia Beach City Public Schools

Leadership encompasses a variety of tasks and responsibilities. I would be remiss not to share that as I prioritize my commitment to our scholars, it begins with their social and emotional well-being. In these unprecedented time, it is an understatement to say that Maslow’s basic human needs far exceeds Bloom’s classification for learning objectives. An Achievable Dream’s SAME framework is an essential to assist in transitioning scholars back into what we will deem as the new norm. The program is intentional in supporting the whole child as it gives scholars purpose to not only reach their fullest potential, but exceed it, socially, academically and morally.

Terra Harris

Principal, An Achievable Dream Academy, Newport News Public Schools

As a teacher at An Achievable Dream, I see first-hand how much the SAME framework, curriculum and culture has a positive impact on our students.  The main reason I became a teacher is to make a difference in children’s lives, not to just teach academics but to teach the whole child.  I am proud to endorse this program.

Linda Habich

Kindergarten Teacher, Seatack Elementary An Achievable Dream Academy, Virginia Beach City Public Schools

It is our job as educators is to provide children with positive and culturally relevant educational experiences. An Achievable Dream’s SAME framework does just that. It provides the layout for students to understand the world around them, while providing the tools needed to be successful beyond the classroom.

Sherrell Ashburn

5th Grade Lead Teacher, An Achievable Dream Academy, Newport News Public Schools

As an educator, we face many demands and challenges, but our primary goal is to educate and equip children for their future. An Achievable Dream’s SAME framework does an exceptional job of instilling in students not only the motivation and confidence to dream big but the skills they need to achieve those dreams. I believe tremendously in the value of this program.
